Overview

Four nations as one, the United Kingdom is a land with strong local identities and long histories from Roman settlements to northern industrial heartlands.

The National Rail is the generic term used by the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) to denote the passenger services in United Kingdom. Train tickets for trains operating in the UK can be booked in advance. International trains connect the UK with neighbouring countries such as France and Belgium. Book tickets to visit main cities of the United Kingdom by train. Cities including London, Oxford and Bath are all served by trains.

Cityscape

Edinburgh, London, Cardiff – of course they’re worth a visit but get off the beaten track. Try Sheffield for its close-knit city mood, excellent shopping and rich history; Bath for the culture and architecture; Newport for the Ryder Cup and fascinating buildings and Dundee for its lively, cosmopolitan centre.

Landscape

The United Kingdom can be anything you want it to be, for sandy beaches take a First Great Western train to Cornwall and Devon. For treks amongst greenery try the East Coast Rail service to the Scottish Highlands or in England the Northern Rail service to the Peak District. And if it’s a landscape of shops you’re after the multitude of cities, all served by trains, are sure to satisfy.

Take Home

The cities and the seaside are full of trinket souvenirs to please those left behind. Welsh Cashmere jumpers and Scottish kilts are also a great way to remember your trip.

Food & Drink

Fish and chips in a seaside town are a must, as is a Sunday roast in a traditional English pub. In Scotland make sure you try the haggis and in Wales visit the many gastronomic delights both in the much-hyped restaurants of the cities and in the tucked away cafes of the small villages. And with thousands of pubs throughout the UK, your whistle will never be dry.

New Perspective

Take a First ScotRail train to Wick near John O’Groats. It’s the furthest point in the UK and the starting/finishing point for those (peculiar folk!) wishing to walk the breadth of the country.

    European vacation |
"The staff are very helpful. It was our first time to travel via rail and we initially got lost and didn't know where to check in. The rail staff was very helpful in showing us where to go thereby managing to get to our trains just in time. The seats are comfortable and the food is good. Very friendly attendants, too. "

    Smooth Ride but disorganized |
"Checking in was a mess with no proper signs and just queues of people arriving for the different departure times. There weren't any clear signage where to go and for which train departure. Border Control was the bottle neck. Once you clear all of that watch out for the departure times, tricky as there are many. Otherwise, train is comfortable and smooth. "

  • Maiden trip on Euro Train |
"My family and I had fully enjoyed the trip from London to Paris. The trip was on time and the spectacular view of the UK and France countryside was picturesque. The wifi onboard kept us in touched with our friends as we uploaded pictures of our traveling insitu. Service on board with fresh croissants and bun was equally a 4-star and one of the best we had experienced. My family and I look forward to another Euro-train trip next year. "
